Civil Rights Reflection

 

   I think the most interesting thing I realized yesterday was how recent many of these events are. When we talk about segregation I think sometimes I tend to think of it as so far in the past but in terms of history, it was relatively recent. I thought it was really interesting to learn about the freedom riders because it gave insight into how corrup the state governemnt was which I dont think I realized.

   I really liked how the legacy museum was set up and how they made it interactive, it was really interesting at the phone call station to hear the inmate's stories. I found it interesting that at the entrance of the museum it said on the wall something along the lines of "you are standing in the spot where slaves were once sold" and I found it almost haunting and it changed my feeling towards the space as a whole.
